Introducing ReadyToTalk — Our AI Receptionist for Small Business
Small businesses miss a staggering number of phone calls. Industry data suggests the average small business misses over 60% of inbound calls — and every missed call is a missed customer. Hiring a full-time receptionist costs $35,000–$50,000 a year. Virtual receptionist services run $200–$500 a month with per-minute fees that add up fast. For a two-person law firm or a solo dental practice, none of those options make economic sense.
That's why we built ReadyToTalk.
## What It Is
ReadyToTalk is an AI-powered phone answering service for small businesses. You sign up, point it at your website, and within minutes you have a virtual receptionist that can answer calls, take messages, book appointments, and handle common customer questions — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
There's no manual scripting. No recording prompts into a phone. No spreadsheets of FAQs to fill out. The AI reads your website, learns your business — services, hours, pricing, team members — and starts answering calls with that knowledge. If a customer calls your dental office at 9 PM asking about teeth whitening pricing, the AI knows the answer because it read your services page.
## How It Works
Setup takes about five minutes:
1. **Enter your website URL.** The AI scans your site and builds a knowledge base from your content — services, FAQs, business hours, team info, everything.
2. **Get a phone number.** We provision a dedicated toll-free number for your AI receptionist.
3. **Forward your calls.** Set up call forwarding on your carrier (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile — we provide the star codes) so unanswered calls go to your AI.
4. **Done.** Your receptionist is live. Every call gets answered, every lead gets captured, and you get an email summary after each call.
The system handles everything you'd expect from a receptionist: answering questions about your services, collecting caller information, booking appointments if you have scheduling set up, and escalating to your team when a call needs a human. After each call, you get a transcript, a summary, and any action items — delivered straight to your inbox.
## Who It's For
ReadyToTalk is built for small businesses that depend on phone calls but can't justify the cost of a dedicated receptionist:
- **Dental offices** — patient scheduling, after-hours inquiries, insurance questions - **Law firms** — intake screening, new client inquiries, callback scheduling - **Real estate agents** — buyer/seller inquiries, showing scheduling, lead capture - **Salons and spas** — appointment booking, service questions, availability - **Home services** — plumbers, HVAC, electricians who are on job sites and can't answer the phone
If your business gets phone calls and you sometimes can't answer them, ReadyToTalk is for you.
## Why We Built It
Seven Olives builds AI agent teams. That's our core business — we design, deploy, and manage autonomous agents that handle real work for real companies. We've built trading monitors, content pipelines, DevOps agents, and product management systems. The common thread: taking repetitive, high-volume work and letting AI handle it reliably.
Phone answering is one of the most obvious applications of that approach. The task is well-defined (answer the phone, help the caller, log the interaction), the information is structured (business details from a website), and the stakes are clear (every missed call is a missed customer). It's a perfect fit for an AI agent.
We also wanted to build something that small businesses could actually afford. At $29 a month with 200 included minutes and no setup fees, ReadyToTalk costs less than a single hour of a human receptionist's time — and it works around the clock. We include a 14-day free trial so you can see results before you pay anything.
## The Tech Stack
ReadyToTalk runs on the same infrastructure we use for client agent deployments:
- **Voice AI:** Vapi handles real-time call processing and voice synthesis - **Backend:** Django on Railway, handling business logic, call logging, and knowledge base management - **Frontend:** Next.js on Railway, providing the dashboard for call logs, settings, and analytics - **Payments:** Stripe for subscriptions and usage billing - **Pipeline:** The entire product was built by our own agent team (Seven, Brainy, Buzzy, Testy) using OpenWeave for execution governance
We eat our own cooking. ReadyToTalk was built using the same multi-agent workflow we offer clients — spec writing, code generation, QA, and deployment all managed through our pipeline.
## What's Next
ReadyToTalk is live and handling calls in production today. We're actively building out appointment booking integrations, SMS follow-ups, and deeper analytics. If your business misses calls, give it a try — the 14-day trial is free and setup takes five minutes.
